I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at University College London and a Senior Evaluation Advisor at the Evaluation Task Force in the UK Cabinet Office.
My research is broadly focused on two areas. First, I am interested in how policymakers make use of evidence to inform their policy choices, and in the processes by which research evidence is incorporated into governmental decision-making. I am currently working on a research project funded by a UKRI Metascience Research Grant, which aims to improve the reliability of government impact evaluations in the UK. You can read more about that project here.
Second, my research also addresses questions about what voters want, how politicians act, and how these preferences and behaviours interact to affect electoral outcomes and political representation in democratic systems. My work is primarily located in the fields of policy evaluation, legislative politics, public opinion, electoral politics, and quantitative methods.
