Biography

I am a post-doc in the Methodology Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science. My current research project, which is funded by the ESRC's "Future Research Leaders" programme, lies at the intersection of political science, computational statistics, and machine learning. The central aim of this project is to expand the range of political concepts that can be measured through the statistical analysis of parliamentary debates. A summary of the project was recently featured on the Times Higher Education website.

Previously I was a fellow and PhD student in the Government Department at the LSE. My PhD thesis explored the effects of legislative leaders on the behaviour of parliamentarians in the European Parliament and the UK House of Commons. I defended my dissertation in July 2016, and a copy of the thesis can be found here.

If you’re here looking for Jack Blumenau, the actor, then that’s also me. My IMDB page is here and a full CV is here .
